The Church of Saint Barbara from 1852 is the oldest Catholic shrine in Chorzów. It was built not far from Huta Królewska. The church owes its present look to the later enlargement. Stylistically, it is mainly a Neo-Gothic building, but some neo-Romanesque elements can also be found here. Inside the church, there are beautiful stained glass windows designed by Stefan Matejko, nephew of the famous painter. The tomb of Julius Ligoń, a Silesian poet and social activist is situated at 3 Maja Street, not far from the church.
