Ślemień is a large Beskid village situated to the east of Żywiec. It can boast of its colorful history including one industrial episode. In the 18th century, for a short period of time, a smelter operated in the capital of the Ślemień state. The smelter was used to smelt iron from the bog ores. To this day, stone ruins of the smelter have remained in the vicinity of the parish church.
