The Romanesque church Saint Hedwig of Silesia in Chorzów, which is now a parish church (initially, it was a subsidiary church of the parish of Saint Barbara) was erected in the second half of the 19th century and consecrated on October 18, 1974. In the beginning of the 20th century, due to an increasing number of parishioners, the church was enlarged. It was adorned with two rear towers, an organ choir with a new instrument and a marble statuette of the patroness.
